Parliament House to Host World Movie Premiere:  MY FAIR LIDY

A Red Carpet Fundraiser to Benefit the Hope & Help Center of Central Florida

Saturday February 25, 2012

The Parliament House Resort will present the first non-festival screening of the comic/drama MY FAIR LIDY which was filmed entirely on location in Central Florida.  The films leading lady is long time Orlando based female impersonator Leigh Shannon as Miss Sal. The leading man is hunky Hollywood star Christopher (The Templars) Backus as Lidy. Other Orlando notables appearing in the film include actors Rus Blackwell, Tom Nowicki, Michele Feren and the inimitable long time PH Show Director and emcee Darcel Stevens. The Parliament House itself is also prominently featured in the move under the film name – “House of Lords”.

When the producers sought to film on location at the Parliament House (over the course of a week during July of 2011) PH co-owner Susan Unger offered the location to the producers, without cost, if they would agree to allow the Parliament House to premiere the film for fundraising purposes. This event is the result of that agreement. The filmmakers will receive no revenue from the event. The Parliament House is absorbing all other expenses associated with the event and/or attracting in-kind services donations. 100% of every ticket sold will go directly to the Hope & Help Center of Central Florida to serve our neighbors right here in Central Florida who are affected by HIV/AIDS.

There are three ticketing options from which to choose for this charity fundraising event:

General Access Select-A-Seat Tickets - $15

Affordable reserved seating in the front and rear section of the theatre. General access entry.

VIP FRONT MEZZANINE Tickets - $50

Select-A-Seat reserved seating at cocktail tables on the front mezzanine level where the Parliament House Owners´ Table and the Wanzie Presents Producers Table are typically situated. Considered to be the best seats in the house; no other tables directly in front on the same level, offering each table an unobstructed view. Tables will be dressed with linen cloths, candlelight, and special treats for a $50 per-person donation to the Hope & Help Center of Central Florida. This ticket Includes VIP Red Carpet Entry!

VIP REAR MEZZANINE - Only $30

Select-A-Seat reserved seating at “Hi-Top” tables on the VIP level. Those seated directly in front of these desirable tables are seated at much lower cocktail tables that pose no obstruction to the patrons´ view. Tables will be dressed in linen clothes, candlelight, and special treats for a $30 per-person donation to the Hope & Help Center of Central Florida. This ticket includes VIP Red Carpet Entry!

All three levels of seating include pre-screening cocktail (cash bar) reception with the film stars, featuring complimentary appetizers and a display of film props & costumes.

Extraordinary Events and Belvedere Vodka

Downtown Orlando turned RED for a special cause to support the Global Fund to fight AIDS and HIV and Hope & Help Center of Central Florida. With World AIDS Day celebrated in the month of December.  Extraordinary Events worked with Belvedere Vodka to produce three simultaneous holiday themed RED Happy Hours in three separate locations.  Hope & Help Center received the proceeds from the raffles, which were held at the three locations.  Thank you to Extraordinary Events and Belvedere Vodka.

MAC Gives Back

December 1st was World AIDS Day, a worldwide day of remembrance and action for the fight against HIV/AIDS. Every year the Hope and Help Center engages the community to join us in this fight. This year we were joined by the lovely ladies and gentlemen from M•A•C Cosmetics. They joined us for a day of volunteering and giving, showing that M•A•C doesn’t only make you beautiful on the outside, but on the inside as well. The M•A•C team donated more than $500 to our food pantry and dedicated more than 50 volunteer hours! They were truly a bunch of angels. Words cannot express our gratitude for their support. Give Back for Happy Holidays with Hope & Help

In this time of year filled with joy and happiness, there are plenty of ways you can share that feeling with others who truly need your help. A Cornucopia of Giving From Walgreens

Hope & Help would like to extend our sincerest gratitude to Walgreens Pharmacies for their generous donation to our Thanksgiving food drive. In one week 29 stores throughout Central Florida were able to collect enough food to provide 70 families with a holiday meal. Thanks to them, so many children and families will not have to go hungry. With participation from Walgreens´ customers, staff and management; they were able to collect an overflowing truckload of canned goods, dry goods and toiletries as well as donate $315 towards the purchase of turkeys. We cannot thank them enough for helping us reach our goal of ensuring these families their Thanksgiving dinner.

Lend a Hand and Give a Wing

Thanksgiving is just days away and soon many will be enjoying their holiday meal with their loved ones. Now, you have the chance to make sure your Central Florida friends and neighbors in need experience that same joy. The Joy Metropolitan Community Church (Joy MCC) has generously donated turkeys and other holiday meal staples to support the Hope & Help Center’s emergency food pantry.  We need your help Monday, Nov. 21 to assemble grocery bags, with all the makings of a Thanksgiving dinner, to go out to families who would otherwise go without. MAC Cosmetics´ Global Volunteer Initiative Joins Hands with Hope & Help

World AIDS Day is celebrated on Dec. 1 each year around the world. It has become one of the most recognized international health days and a key opportunity to raise awareness, commemorate those who have passed on, and celebrate victories such as increased access to treatment and prevention services.  The Hope & Help Center would like to thank M·A·C Cosmetics for their support during World AIDS Day, and all year long.  All M·A·C Cosmetics´ counters in the Central Florida area will be accepting contributions to support the Hope & Help Center’s emergency food pantry.  In addition to supporting our food pantry, representatives from M·A·C Cosmetics’ will be helping at our World AIDS Day Breakfast.  The ...
